spaces between trees.

classrooms fill up,
empty their students
and empty now
sit by themselves,
meditating on light
and shadows, thinking
of nothing.

I’ll open that
window,
over there,
so the light can
come in, can reflect
in my eyes,
and leave out
the window again.

trees shook with snow.
I desire only
to see their shaken limbs
and to touch their
snowy brow.
